Based in Durham, North Carolina, Melville Ceramics is a small-batch, female-owned business that creates thoughtful, one-of-a-kind ceramic pieces inspired by nature. Each artwork is handmade by artist and founder Kelsey Melville using natural clays. Melville leaves most of her forms unglazed, showcasing the beautiful range of colors that the earth offers, from iron-rich reds to deep black. Melville highlights the unrefined tones of the clay with simple line work that she paints by hand. Through each piece, Melville pays homage to the natural world, which grounds her and leaves her in a constant state of grateful awe.
